Founded in Jeff Bezos’ garage in Bellevue, Washington in July of 1994, Amazon is a multinational technology company that focuses on e-commerce, cloud computing, digital streaming, and artificial intelligence. Although there are many corporations that offer these kinds of services, Amazon’s popularity is indisputable. In fact, it leads the ranking of the most popular shopping apps in the United States.
Now, this shouldn’t really come as a big shock. After all, you can order anything and everything from the American site with just one click, and it’ll be delivered to your doorstep the following day! It’s really that easy in today’s world. But, what if we told you that you could get free next-day delivery on your soulmate?
Finding “The One”
We know that finding “the one” can certainly be a tough task. And really, the older we get, the more difficult it is to not only find that special someone to settle down with but to also find meaningful friendships. At one point in our lives, it was fairly easy to make connections — through school, sports, drama, and other extracurricular activities. As adults, though, it’s natural to fall into a mundane routine and so, we actually have to seek out opportunities to spark up relationships.
Dating in Today’s World
That’s why people turn to social media, and dating apps or websites. These platforms help us find connections and even that certain companionship so many of us crave. Once you create an account on that dating app or website, it’s a very simple process to create your profile before you get swiping and/or chatting with possible partners. And while platforms like Tinder, Instagram, or even E-Harmony are perfectly fine, perhaps you can just use Amazon — as you do to order anything else, like a phone case or pair of slippers.
Recently, a group of content creators — along with animation company Thinko — created Amazon Dating, a satirical dating platform in which people can fake-purchase their dream date. The site is super realistic looking, to the point that it’s a little scary. Not only can you find “hot singles in your area,” but you can also filter them down to the “best sellers” or “Amazon’s choice.” And although AmazonDating.co is technically a parody website, it really does make you think about the possibilities. After all, we can get just about anything online, so why are soulmates off-limits?
Who knows? Perhaps Amazon’s board of directors will find some inspiration in this fake dating platform and actually bring it to life. In today’s world, we wouldn’t be all that surprised! Stay tuned…
