There are tons of ways to prepare and cook salmon, but some of these methods can be intimidating. Luckily, when it comes to grilling this fish, there’s a very easy trick to make sure it doesn’t fall apart and tastes amazing. Read on to learn how to do it as well as a great marinade option.

The Trick to Grilling Salmon

An important part of grilling salmon so it doesn’t fall apart is to add oil to the grill. This helps remove the fish without it sticking to the grill. Once your grill is properly greased, here’s the trick to grilling salmon perfectly every time.

Start by searing the salmon for a minute or two with the skin side up. The reason for this is that as the fish cooks it becomes flaky, so by putting it flesh-side down in the beginning, you can start cooking it before that happens. Then, once you flip it, the skin makes it easy to hold the fish together and pick it up with a spatula.
