40+ Wholesome Facts That Might Bring Some Sunshine to Your Day
Smarter and Healthier
As it turns out, our society is far smarter and healthier than we originally thought. As of 2022, there are over 117,341 libraries (total, not just public, sorry OP) in the USA and only 13,438 McDonald’s.
Don’t get us wrong — we love a good burger just as much as the next person, but who doesn’t want the next generation to have easier access to books than unhealthy food? Now, out of those two options of where to spend your afternoon, which will you choose?
The Importance of Education
Japan Railways kept their promise, as they only closed the Kyu-shirataki train station in 2016 after Kana Harada graduated high school. Kana expressed, “I got on and off this train for the last three years, and this station’s presence has become something I have taken for granted.”
“I do feel sad to think it will disappear.” We agree that it’s always saddening when something ends, but this train station has served its purpose.
Why the Frog Crossed the Road
Forget why the chicken crossed the road — why did the frog cross the road? Because it was helped across safely! This initiative is run by the Amphibian Conservation Program via the German Society for Nature Conservation.
Even better, this isn’t the only program of its kind. Other countries have adopted their own forms of safe ways for frogs to cross roads. Some use tunnels, while others utilize fences and then volunteers transport the frogs in buckets.
Time for a Pet Elephant
Does anyone else suddenly want a pet elephant? Or, in this case, perhaps we’d be their pets? Either way, it turns out that elephants have more in common with humans than one might think.
These animals have societal structures that aren’t too different from ours. They’re extremely social, their herds are built in a way that resembles families, and they even mourn when one of the herd passes away. And, apparently, they kind of all want a pet human.
